Brushed DC Motor Controller

4Q regenerative, high-current and rugged controller boards for brushed (classic) DC motors — the NES Drive BAMSI series.

Brushed DC motors are still chosen in many industrial vehicles for their simplicity and high starting torque. Driving them efficiently requires speed and torque control, direction reversal and braking capability. The NES Drive BAMSI series offers 4Q (four-quadrant) control for brushed DC motors: forward/reverse drive, braking and regenerative energy recovery — all on one board.

The BAMSI series operates at 12–72 V with up to 300 A; a die-cast aluminium body and comprehensive protection (overcurrent, temperature, reverse polarity, short circuit) withstand harsh conditions. It is especially the economical way to modernize old brushed-DC forklifts, pallet trucks and machinery — upgrading the controller without replacing the motor.

Frequently asked questions
Are brushed DC and brushless (BLDC) controllers interchangeable?

No, they differ. A brushed DC motor needs BAMSI; a brushless BLDC/PMSM motor needs TULPAR. If unsure of your motor type, share the nameplate and we will identify it together.

Can I keep my old forklift’s DC motor?

Yes. The BAMSI series works directly with the existing brushed DC motor; you gain performance and efficiency by upgrading the controller without replacing the motor.

What does 4Q control provide?

Four-quadrant control enables forward/reverse rotation, active braking, and returning energy to the battery during braking (regenerative).

Is it safe at high current?

Yes. Overcurrent, temperature, reverse-polarity and short-circuit protection plus a die-cast aluminium body safely handle demanding, high-current duty.
